Summary:

The objective of this project is to develop a resource scheduling tool that would work alongside Microsoft Project. This tool should act as a front end to Microsoft Project and allow for the creation of a schedule with a minimal amount of work for the scheduling manager.
This project has five distinct parts:
1. Upgrade of project planning and resource leveling software to allow for pull flow and optimization of work schedules based on an assigned completion date and a latest possible schedule rule.
2. Development of two customized output reports: (a) a specified scheduled start/stop date for each step, and (b) a daily resource task listing.
3. Case study will be implemented to develop inputs required and to demonstrate planning and report capabilities.
4. Delivery of training to 809 personnel on the use of the software tool and guidance on establishing input data.
5. Subcontract to Oklahoma State University (Dr. Ricki Ingalls) $5000 – Will develop a labor planning model for uncertain demand using the results of a previous study done for Smith Tool.
This tool allows Crane to easily create long schedules without having to do it manually in Project
Different jobs can be scheduled using the same program if they are located in the same database
Combined with a macro created in Project the schedules are optimized by the due dates
