Summary:

This project has the objective of estimating current item file accuracy for Wal-Mart, developing methods to improve item file accuracy, and developing a support user interface for decision making
Currently Item files are utilized to make supply chain decisions such as determining trailer cube vary with respect to accuracy and completeness, as well as for shelf space considerations when setting modulars. The accuracy of the current data is in question. The sponsor wants to improve its ability to make decisions based on these files with a significant increase in the level of the data, as well as having a process that is user friendly in reviewing the data. We will identify inaccuracies in dimensional data provided within then item file and develop a methodology to estimate item file data by category. In addition, a user tool will be developed that will enable improved supply chain decisions.
