Summary:

The focus of this project is to develop effective strategies to find a more cost-effective material handling system that can be implemented in facilities. The specific task is to find material handling systems that can be standardized across all facilities and that minimize installation and operation costs.
Industry is striving to improve and standardize material handling methods in processing and distribution centers (P&DCs) throughout the United States. This project seeks to examine long-term material handling strategies that will enable companies to improve and standardize intra-P&DC handling while minimizing the installation and steady-state production costs associated with material handling equipment and strategies.
